Do not act as if you had 10,000 years to throw away.
Be good for something while you live and it is in your power.

The Journey
The River Stoic journey is a multi-day expedition designed to help you explore your philosophy of life.
While drifting down the ‘storied’ Madison River we will use the ideals of stoicism and the art of fly fishing to explore your personal motivations, perspectives, barriers, and aspirations.
The Madison River
Starting near the southernmost reaches of the Madison Valley, and flanked by the Madison and Gravelly mountain ranges, we will depart on a two-day float that covers almost 40 miles of one of North America’s premier fly fishing destinations.
As we teach or hone your skills with a fly rod, I will direct our conversation to unpack the challenges or opportunities that are present in your life. Using the pillars of stoicism and lessons taught from fishing, we will examine ways to align actions with intentions. Through this process you will discover insights to shape or strengthen your own life philosophy.
For some adventurers River Stoic is an opportunity to reflect introspectively. Others have used the experience to strategize, plan, and scheme for a change in their life.
Nearly everyone embraces two days immersed in nature to refresh their mind and body, and revive their spirit.
Stoics suggest two elements of a fulfilling life are living virtuously and finding tranquility. The setting of the Madison river, the wisdom of these great thinkers, and the meditative qualities of fly fishing have helped me practice a life and mindset that align with their principles. I started River Stoic to share what I've learned about happiness health, and balance.
